Moving during a global pandemic can be downright scary. Information regarding the coronavirus changes daily, and we all want to make sure we are protecting each other and ourselves throughout this COVID-19 outbreak.
For those who don’t have to move during the pandemic, it probably makes more sense just to wait it out. However, if you’ve sold your home or are relocating for a job, you will want to consider some additional actions to help support a safe move during the Coronavirus Pandemic.
Hiring professional movers, like Premium Moving Services, for local or long distance moves, will increase your ability to maintain social distancing while still making your move easy and smooth.
Use new packing supplies. This isn’t the time to reuse boxes from the grocery or liquor store. You can purchase new moving boxes and tape from us or from an online source. When you pack your boxes, do so at least three days before the movers arrive to avoid any potential contamination. Wrap your furniture in plastic, which provides a removable layer around your furniture that can be discarded. Label everything very well. It’ll be easier for our team to distribute the boxes and furniture in your new home.
On the day of your move, our team will be wearing masks, gloves, and will be practicing social distancing from you and your family. We kindly suggest that you aren’t there when our movers arrive, however, if you feel more comfortable being there try to stay outside to minimize contact.
Arriving at your new home on move-in day, please provide sanitizing supplies and protective equipment for everyone involved. Having access to a sink and hand soap is ideal, and you may want to provide face coverings and gloves for you and your family.
If you or anyone in your family is feeling sick or showing symptoms of COVID-19, we request that you delay your move. While it may not be ideal, it’s essential for the safety of everyone involved.
With proper precautions and a little cleaning, we will get everything moved safely. This global pandemic isn’t going to last forever, however, according to the experts we can expect things to be like this for at least a couple years.
As more information about the coronavirus pandemic develops, some of the information in our blog may have changed since it was posted. For the most up-to-date information on COVID-19, please visit the online resources provided by the CDC.
